What are the benefits?

Micronor offers almost 100% effective protection and is a convenient way to protect yourself against falling pregnant. As it contains only progestogen, there is no risk of developing side effects associated with oral contraceptives containing oestrogen.

If you've experienced a rise in blood pressure while using the standard pill or if you are at risk of developing blood clots and heart problems, a mini-pill may be a better option for you than the combined pill. How does the mini-pill work?

Micronor contains norethisterone which is an artificial form of the natural hormone progestogen. Secondly, if sperm manages to fertilise an egg, it can't bury itself in the womb lining. Who can and can't take Micronor?

Most women over 18 can safely order and use Micronor. However, there are certain health conditions and medications which may prohibit its use. How do you take the mini-pill?

If this isn't possible, you can start to take it up until the fifth day of menstrual bleeding but you will have to wait seven days for it to become fully effective. To ensure that you remain fully protected, take Micronor pills at the same time every day. You can take this mini-pill up to three hours late if you forget to take it.

Are there any side effects?

Micronor is very well tolerated, which is why it is often prescribed to women who experience side effects when using the combined pill. However, it can still cause some women some side effects. The most commonly reported side effects include headaches, changes in menstrual patterns, nausea, migraines, weight gain and a reduced sex drive. The milder side effects of Micronor pills tend to go away as soon as your body has managed to adapt to the new hormones.
